Cream Cheese French Toast

A crushed almond coating gives this French toast a crisp texture--delicious with a mixture of cream cheese and maple syrup.
Ingredients
- 8 slices 1 inch thick French bread
- 8 large eggs
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1 cup cream cheese
- 1 tbsp vanilla flavoring
- 1 cup maple syrup
- 2 cup crushed almonds
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Method
Beat together eggs, cinnamon, and flavoring until well blended. Mix in almonds. Soak bread on both sides in wet mixture. Preheat griddle to 450 degrees. Melt butter on griddle. Place bread on griddle, browning on both sides. Place on decorative platter. Over double boiler, melt cream cheese and blend in syrup until mixture reaches a simmer. Drizzle over French toast. Sprinkle powdered sugar over toast. Serve warm.
